Hello again!

Hello teacher! It is a pleasure to write again, and this time I want to talk about the importance of the three methods that my classmates explained. First of all, I want to say that I really like the direct method because in this method students interact more with the teacher, it is not allowed to speak their native language, and it is something really important because students feel that it is really important to learn English in order to participate in class. Another important thing is that some topics are developed. In this way, students learn some other things about foreign cultures, and they are able to give their own opinions.
This method has many advantages, and I think that teachers have to give the topic. Then, they have to explain the grammar structures included in the topic. It will help students to learn more about grammar structures. I thing we can apply this method with people of different ages.

Suggestopedia is a method that can work with children because they really like to learn through singing. In my case, I don’t like to sing and it is because I can’t. It is really important that errors are corrected gently, but I think that errors have to be corrected on this way it doesn’t matter what kind of method we are applying.

I really don’t like the silent method. The word “gives me an idea that classes are really boring” but I can it depends on the kind of teacher who is teaching. I will always stand my opinion that it is better to mix good things of different methods and it will help us to become good teachers.

  1. I liked the part where you talk about learning from other cultures. I've gotten much american culture info through learning the English language. I am experiencing the same all over again with Italian, while watching movies made and spoken in that language. It is fun and allows you to grow in knowledge consistently.

As for the singing part, I don't really like singing, but basically just because I can't sing, but maybe it'd be good for little kids.

Like you say, an "eclectic" approach method is the best one we could apply in a class.

  2. Singing is not your strenght, well Xavier is none of us but those exercises help students to lose fear and gain confidence and the intonation of songs. Besides some people develop fluency. As we have been talking in class, it will depend on your learning style and your students´s of course.
Silent Way may occupy a bit of your lessons but not the whole session. Sometimes the students would appreciate a bit of responsability in their learning and the silent way encourages this fact. Maybe when using a reading, you will be applying the Silent Way, what do you think?

  4. yeah learning from other cultures is really important because when you become a teacher; students think that you know everything so it means that you have to be ready for every question students will ask you, even questions that needs an answer from other cultures.
you know that I am a teacher and now I am working in another school and believe me I have had to sing with my students sometimes even though I can not, but it has been amazing for me, so as you can see i aplly a "ecleptic method" because I take any part of each method.
